RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Association shall be called the "Llangollen Angling Association" the headquarters of which shall be at the RAFA Club, Llangollen or at such a place as the Executive Committee shall from time to time appoint.
- Objects:
- The Association will have as its objectives the protection and furtherance of angling in the Llangollen and District waters.
- To suppress illegal fishing and prevent the destruction and removal of fish below standard in accordance with t he law and the regulations of the Environment Agency.
- To preserve as far as possible the waters covered by the Association and generally assist the Environment Agency Enforcement Officers in suppressing illegal fishing.
- The development and improvement of water in which at present there are few or no fish.
- The acquiring of fishing rights of waters in the area for Salmon, Trout and Coarse fish.

Constitution:

There shall be four trustees of the club who shall be ex-officio members of the Committee. The first trustee should be appointed by the Committee and the property of the club (other than cash which should be under the control of the Treasurer) shall be vested in them to be dealt with by them as the Committee from time to time direct by resolution (of which an entry in the Minute Book shall be conclusive evidence). The trustee shall be indemnified against risk and expense out of the club property. The trustee shall hold office until death or resignation or until removed from office by resolution of the Committee who may, for any reason which may seem sufficient to a majority of them present and voting at any meeting remove any trustee or trustees from their office. If by reason of any such death, resignation or removal, it shall be a necessary to the Committee that a new trustee shall be appointed, or if the Committee shall deem it expedient to appoint an additional trustee or additional trustees, the Committee shall by resolution, nominate the person or persons to be appointed the new trustee/trustees. For the purpose of giving effect to such nomination, the President is hereby nominated as a person to appoint new trustees of the club within the meaning of Section 36 of the Trustee Act 1925 and he shall by deed duly appoint a person or persons so nominated by the Committee as the new trustee or trustees of the club and that provision of the Trustees Act 1925 shall apply to any such appointment. Any statement of fact in any such deed of appointment shall be in favour of a person dealing bonafide with a Club or Committee is conclusive evidence of the facts so stated.The trustee shall deal with the property by way of sale, mortgage, charge, lease or otherwise, howsoever, as directed by the Association. Such direction should be given by resolution of the Members of the Association passed by a majority of the Members present at a duly convened meeting of the Association and when so passed should be binding in favour of a subsequent purchase, mortgage or lease for value upon all Members of the Association. A certificate purporting to be signed by the Secretary or Chairman for the time being of the Association shall be conclusive evidence in favour of the said person that a direction complying in all respects with the above provisions of this rule was duly given to the trustees.
- The Association shall be controlled by an Executive Committee to be appointed annually consisting of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Head Bailiff and ten ordinary Members. A quorum shall be five.
- The Annual General Meeting shall be held on the last Tuesday in November at Headquarters each year. Every Member to receive one weeks notice.
- Any Member wishing to submit a resolution to the AGM must give notice in writing to the Secretary with the details of the resolution, the names of the proposer and seconder. This notice to be received 14 days prior to the AGM.
- Upon a written request to the Chairman signed by 12 ordinary Members an Extraordinary General Meeting shall be convened.
- Associate Members may attend the Annual General Meeting and may contribute to the debate. Associate Members, however, are not allowed to vote.
- In the event of the Association ceasing to exist the trustees shall be empowered to realise the property of the club and after the discharge of all liabilities utilise the proceeds for the benefits of persons residing in the Llangollen area, which includes Berwyn, Llantysilio, Rhewl, Pentre Dwr and Sun Banks. The trustee shall also be empowered to utilise the proceeds for the benefits of fishing in general.
- Should any emergency arise which these rules and regulations do not cover, the Executive Committee shall have powers to deal with the same.

Membership:
- Ordinary and Junior Membership is confined to persons residing in the Llangollen area including Berwyn, Llantysilio, Rhewl, Pentre Dwr and Sun Banks. Associate Membership is available to persons residing outside the Llangollen area upon written request to the Treasurer and election by the Executive Committee.
- No person shall be elected to the Executive Committee of the Association unless he/she has resided within the old defined area of Llangollen Urban District Council for a period of 25 years, unless at the discretion of a majority of the Executive Committee, a person who has such expert knowledge of angling and the furtherance of fishing interests and who is considered to be of such benefit to the Association that the rule referred to because of the exceptional circumstances be waived, subject to the overall approval of the trustees of the Association.
- All new Members shall be elected to the Association only after submission of their names to the Executive Committee who should be satisfied of their bonafide interest in the sport of angling.A new ordinary member must be proposed and seconded by existing ordinary members only.
- Any Member or day ticket holder infringing any of the rules of the Association or who may, or has been convicted of illegal fishing, or any offence under the Acts relative to salmon or trout fishing shall forfeit his/her membership or ticket. A membership or ticket holders permit may also be forfeited or suspended if the holder acts in an unreasonable, aggressive or inappropriate way to any other Member, landowner, water bailiff or as a result of his/her actions, or demeanour brings the Association in to disrepute.
- An initial suspension may be made on the direction of the Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer. This suspension to be notified by post to the Member/ticket holder at the address stated on his/her permit.
- The question of suspension/forfeiture will then be considered at the next Executive Committee following the initial suspension. The Member/ticket holder may make representations in person, or in writing to that Executive Committee. A majority of the Executive Committee with the Chairman having the casting vote will decide the issue.
- The Secretary will, within seven days of the Executive Committee Meeting taking place notify the Member/ticket holder of the decision in writing to the address on his/her permit.

RULES GOVERNING METHODS OF FISHING AND MEMBERS CONDUCT
- All fishing should be carried out in accordance with Environment Agency Rules and Regulations.
- All subscriptions should be paid by 31 January each year. They must be paid to the Honorary Treasurer, W N Elbourn, 2 Green Lane, Llangollen, LL2 8TD or Watkin & Williams, 4 Berwyn Street, Llangollen, LL2 8ND. All associate salmon subscriptions must be paid direct to the Treasurer. Any Member not renewing by the said date will run the risk of losing his or her membership. The discretion to allow late renewals will be vested in the Treasurer.
- Anglers must be in possession of a membership card or day ticket at all times, which must be produced when requested by an authorised Bailiff. Any Member of the Association on production of his or her membership card is deemed to be a Bailiff of the Association and is empowered to enforce the rules of the Association and to check cards and tickets.
- Courtesy/Etiquette. No angler shall cut across another who is fishing a pool. Anglers shall take priority in order of their arrival at the pool. Fishing shall commence from the top of a pool and the angler must move downstream one yard between each cast. Anglers to remain at least 20 yards apart. Give consideration to anglers on the opposite bank. Do not cast across another angler. Salmon anglers have precedence at all times.
- There shall be no cutting of trees, undergrowth, weeds, etc., save by Members on official working parties or by prior approval of the Executive Committee.
- It is illegal to attempt to deliberately foul-hook fish or to kill salmon kelts, smolts or parr.
- It is illegal to fish with salmon/trout roe or by-products containing salmon/trout roe at any time.
- Rapala Lures. The front and centre treble hooks must have their points bent in towards the hook shaft. This is to avoid damage to the eyes of fish which may require to be released.
- There is no catch restriction on salmon. However, Members and day ticket holders are reminded that ripe/darkly coloured fish should be returned. It is not possible to lay down precise criteria, but dark fish are not suitable for eating or smoking. Commonsense and discretion should be used. If in doubt, put it back!
- Spinning for trout and grayling prohibited at all times.
- Salmon fishing of Duncan's Pool to be fly only on both banks. Fishing for trout and grayling on both banks above the Chain Bridge is restricted to fly only. Worming is allowed for trout and grayling below the Chain Bridge Hotel from 16 June to 1 March.
- All other natural baits are prohibited. Ground baiting is strictly prohibited. Trout under 10" and grayling under 10" must be returned immediately to the water dead or alive. All salmon parr should be returned to the water dead or alive. Any salmon fisherman who catches a non-migratory fish whilst salmon fishing should return it to the water dead or alive.
- A bag limit of four fish only per day. This bag can be made up of either brown trout or grayling. No bubble floats or controllers to be used in conjunction with a fly rod and line whilst fishing for trout and grayling.
- Members are reminded that no dogs are allowed on the Association's'waters.'
- Any Member or day ticket holder who has fished outside the United Kingdom or Ireland in the preceding three months must clean and treat all fishing tackle and equipment. This is to prevent the introduction of Gyrodactylus Salaris.
- Fishing for pike on the Association's Water shall be between 17 October and the last day in February; being restricted to fishing dead bait only.
- No shooting, building of fires, camping, canoeing or launching of boats shall be allowed on Association's land or waters without the prior approval of the Executive Committee.
- Conduct. Follow the Country Code. Be considerate to all people, fishers and non-fishers alike. Park wisely and close all gates. Use recognised access routes only and take all litter and discarded nylon home with you.
- Junior Members are not allowed to fish for salmon at anytime. Juniors up to the age of 12 are allowed to worm fish all waters below the Chain Bridge Hotel at all times.
