AGM Thursday 24th November 2011 7:30 at the RAFA club Llangollen. All members welcome to attend.

We no longer control the fishing on the Meadows. This has been relinquished due to the canoe disturbance making it unfishable and uneconomical in the circumstances.

We do not have access to the Sea-trout pool via Ystrad Hall. Please park at the Horseshoe Falls (A5 side)  and walk down the bank from Berwyn station.

The Salmon season starts on 3rd March. It is fly only until 31st May.Spinning and fly are then allowed until 15th June. Then fly, spinning, worm and prawn from16th June to30th September. The last 17 days of the season to the 17th October are fly and spin only.

Please remember it is compulsory catch and release for any Salmon caught before the 16th June.Thereafter please excersise discretion in keeping fish.We are aiming to hit a 75% release rate. Please assist us in achieving our target. This will in turn assist the stock of Salmon to reach the spawning total required to reach sustainable levels.

Tagged fish may be caught at any time of the season. If you catch a fish with a blue and green tag this is a Spring fish. This fish should be returned at any stage of the season. The top part of the tag can be cut off to claim the reward leaving the bottom tag to identify it if caught again.Other tagged fish may be caught. These do not have to be killed. The tag can be removed to claim the EA reward and the fish returned.

Do not forget to buy your Environment Agency licence. This can be bought online by visiting www.environment-agency.gov.uk

Illegal canoeing continues to be a problem. If you see any canoeing on our waters during the fishing season please contact me through the contacts page.A log of all these  trespassers is being kept. Please try to record as much detail as possible including car registration numbers ,name of canoe club or company organising.

Country Trout membership is available from Watkin Williams (hardware store) in Llangollen town.

Please observe the recommendations of the Welsh Dee Trust.Return as many Salmon or Sea Trout as possible. It is compulsory catch and release for Salmon before the 16th June.It is recommended that no more than 3 Salmon or Sea Trout or combination are taken for the table per angler per season. It is hoped that all anglers will reach a 75-80% release rate.It is also recommended that all Hen fish are returned after the 1st September.
