We no longer control the fishing on the Meadows. This has been relinquished due to the canoe disturbance making it unfishable and uneconomical in the circumstances.

The Salmon season starts on 3rd March. It is fly only until 31st May.Spinning and fly are then allowed until 15th June. Then fly, spinning, worm and prawn from16th June to30th September. The last 17 days of the season to the 17th October are fly and spin only.
Please remember it is compulsory catch and release for any Salmon caught before the 16th June.Thereafter please excersise discretion in keeping fish.We are aiming to hit a 75% release rate. Please assist us in achieving our target. This will in turn assist the stock of Salmon to reach the spawning total required to reach sustainable levels.
Tagged fish may be caught at any time of the season. If you catch a fish with a blue and green tag this is a Spring fish. This fish should be returned at any stage of the season. The top part of the tag can be cut off to claim the reward leaving the bottom tag to identify it if caught again.Other tagged fish may be caught. These do not have to be killed. The tag can be removed to claim the EA reward and the fish returned.

We have experienced huge floods over the last 3 weeksThe river has not been fit for fishing.Hopefully a cold spell will cause it to drop and come right for Grayling fishing. Please take care when wading as the high water will have altered the river bed.

Welcome to the Llangollen Angling Association website. The association founded in 1940 controls fishing on approximately 6 miles of the Welsh Dee in and around the town of Llangollen.
The Dee rises in the mountains above Bala. It is fed by four headland lakes Alwen, Brenig, Celyn and Bala. This guarantees good flows even during dry spells.
The river has good runs of salmon and sea – trout throughout the season. It is internationally renowned for the brown trout and grayling fishing. The river is one of the purest in Europe.
All the information you need is here. Click on the menu to plan your Llangollen fishing experience.
We thank you for familiarising yourselves with LAA Rules and Regulations before fishing on our waters.
Please note NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE ASSOCIATIONS WATERS.
